Our management team

Our firm adopted the Lumley St Aubyn name in 2005, when our Managing Director, John Lumley, took charge of Taylor St Aubyn, a highly successful insurance broker founded in 1995 by his late brother-in-law, Michael St Aubyn.

Today, Lumley St Aubyn is led by a small team of directors backed by an experienced administrative staff, including nine account managers, who attend to our clients' business on a day-to-day basis.

John Lumley, Managing Director
John’s insurance career began in 1982, with Lloyd’s broker Stewart Wrightson. In 1992 he was appointed a Director of Nicholson Leslie Aviation and Non-Executive Director of Edward Lumley Holdings, a UK holding company with subsidiaries in Australia, India, Ireland, Namibia, New Zealand and South Africa. In 1997 he was appointed an Executive Director of Aon Aviation and, four years later, set up Global Aviation Insurance Network, of which he is still a Director. He has been a Director of what is now Lumley St Aubyn since 2003.

Christopher Lumley, Director
Christopher, a graduate of Oxford Brookes University’s Business Administration course, began his insurance career in 1984, when he joined Edward Lumley & Sons. He has since worked for the Sedgwick and Aon groups, and has over 16 years’ experience in international property insurance gained in the UK and South America. He was appointed a Director of Lumley St Aubyn in 2005.

Joanne Haines, Director of Operations
Joanne took her first job in insurance in 1987 with the National Farmers Union. In 1995 she joined Taylor St Aubyn, where she focused on providing a range of services for private clients. She was appointed a Director of Lumley St Aubyn in 2005, and has since been instrumental in the development of the business.

Charles Gosling, Director
Charlie began working in insurance in 1980, when he joined Aon as a specialist in aviation insurance. His career with Aon took him all over the Far East and Asia, where he represented the company for some 20 years. During this time he launched a specialist insurance scheme for airline flight crew. He is now Lumley St Aubyn’s aviation specialist.

Robert Garforth-Bles, Finance Director
Bertie is a Chartered Accountant. He has been involved with both Taylor St Aubyn and Lumley St Aubyn since 1998. He was appointed Company Secretary in 2001 and Finance Director in 2003.

Astrid St Aubyn (née Lumley), Consultant
Astrid served as a Director of Taylor St Aubyn – latterly Lumley St Aubyn – from 2003 to 2007. She has since acted as a consultant to the company, specialising in marketing and promotional activities.
